Your No Motor Fly Fishing Trip

                Where We Fish

My main base of operations is in the Placida area and all through out the sparsely populated areas of the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserve.
No condo high rises, no jet skis, just peace and quiet in a world class destination where the fish are less pressured and  plentiful.
                Areas I cover -
                • Englewood, going south to Placida
                • Boca Grande, around Charlotte Harbor
                • Punta Gorda.
                • Peace River and Myakka River are also a favorite winter time location for Snook and Baby Tarpon.
The trips are fairly simple, no real long distance to cover, often we are into fish within 15 to 20 minutes of the launch.

                When We Fish

                Just another Placida Florida sunrise.

Most of my job is to put you onto fish and ensure you have a good time in a safe, productive manner.
There are many factors that are considered while planing your fly fishing trip.
Time of year (Spring-Summer-Fall or Winter), Tide, water conditions, water temperature and weather are all factored in to ensure that your time on the water takes place during the most optimal conditions.
Perhaps you may want to target a specific species such as Snook, Redfish or Baby Tarpon. All these factors brought together and will dictate where we launch and when we will meet.

I will work around your itinerary and wishes to find the best days/times with optimal conditions to ensure the best possibility for your success.

All of this will be explained in detail for you upon follow up contact once you have some dates in mind.

                Fly Fishing Canoe Launch
Your "4FC" aka-Florida Flats Fly Fishing Chariot Awaits.
Everything will be set up ready and waiting for you when you arrive at the launch.
After the meet and greet, below are what I will brief you on before we head out on the water.
                • Fishing Expectations - How the tide and weather will effect our fishing. Plan of action for the days spots.
                • The Canoe - Unique features of the paddle craft, it's rigging and how it works.
                • Paddling Technique - We must paddle to get to the spots. As an ACA instructor, I will make sure you do it in an efficient manner.
                • Safety - P.F.D. use, locations of the First Aid Kit, tow ropes and emergency communications equipment.
If you are going to be here a few days and you feel your casting skills are a little rusty, I recommend we get together for a FREE one hour casting lesson.
I make it part of my job is to make sure you are ready!

                Be Prepared to learn

Placida Redfish, snook, trout, tarpon, fly fishing, boca grande
Craig Masterman from Massachusetts with a nice Placida Redfish taken on a six weight.
My main goal as a guide is to not only offer you a productive experience on the water, but also teach each and every fly angler all of the aspects of inshore Florida Fly-Fishing. Together, we will work on your cast, cover flies to use and when, why we use that patten and so much more.

The five most important points of inshore fishing- How, when, what, where and why will be covered in detail. When you go out on the water with me, I will be teaching the whole time we are out there. This is to ensure you will develop a solid base of understanding so that when our time together is done, you will continue to improve your skills based on what you learned from me during your trip.

If you are a frequent Florida angler, another goal for me is for you to need my services less as your skills improve to a point where you are not just fly fishing, but also doing a whole lot of catching!

                We Practice "C.P.R"

                Picture
My belief that the species of fish we target are more valuable for the future stocks they produce during their spawning cycle than they are as table fare.
In the interest of helping to conserve the health of our fisheries for future generations to enjoy, all trips and charters will be "Catch, Photograph and Release" (C.P.R.) only.
