Frequently Asked Questions
- What time of the year is the best time to book a trip?
- Why do you use canoes instead of kayaks?
Sit on top kayaks. You can read more into it by reading my articles about canoes on my Blog.
- Are your canoes tippy?
- I have never paddled before. Is it difficult?
- What will I need to bring?
- Can we fish for a specific type of fish?
- Can we go for big Tarpon? I see other paddle fishing guides offering it.
I often get calls from potential clients looking to go hunting for BIG Tarpon out of a paddle craft.
I will not take the chance of sitting you in a 14" plastic "bobber", sticking you to a 100+ lb. fish in Shark infested water and hope that my insurance will cover the worst case scenario. This is not only dangerous for you (even though a few "Kayak Fishing Guides" in the area advertise they will do this. Caution to the wind) it is also guaranteed that the fish will not survive the fight, IF you can get it in one piece to the kayak and IF you can revive it properly which is nearly impossible in a paddle craft.
I want your trip to end with many great memories of the time you had and the fish you caught during your charter, not a helicopter ride to the nearest trama center. We can go for baby Tarpon which are a lot more fun on a fly rod but if the big girls are your goal. See our LINKS section with recommended Captains for such a trip.
- Can you provide lodging?
- Can I keep any fish that I catch?
- What if the weather doesn't co-operate?
- Will you fish as well?
